Laser dynamics - mechanisms of the onset of chaos

In many experiments done with class B lasers, bifurcation pictures are made which reveal both subharmonic and chaotic attractors as a parameter is changed. However, one of the outstanding questions which needs to be addressed is, Which unstable phenomena is the cause of chaotic onset? This paper, done jointly Thomas Carr, will show how global behavior is established in class B lasers.
